I just ran across a few old issues of Avant Garde magazine and one of them had some interesting takes on this.
Different times, but could use the same creativity against it, 2 B sure!

that reminds me they are giving a talk about Ramparts at the church around the corner to night...there's a new book on it.
I'll go for the end.
I'm a big Ramparts fan of old--
a 1967 issue with Mouse on the cover was my blueprint for becoming a hippie.
"Fuck the War" a timeless shiboleth.

Thanks for the heads up on the book! The Barb, SF Oracle etc, etc were the reads of the day.
Used to see Hinkle and his dog going to the bar while at the chron/ex for 18 yrs. He was an interesting fellow, to say the least.
